Business records of David A. Neal and his son Theodore A. Neal, merchants and financiers of Salem, Mass. The earlier material relates to foreign marketing and includes journals, letter books, 1818-1819, 1831-1836, ledgers, and cash books. The later material is concerned chiefly with the Neals' connections with the Associates of the Illinois Land Agency, an agency formed to develop land along the Illinois Central Railroad. These records include journals, letter books, stock books, plans, claims, and sales of titles. Also included is a typewritten copy of David A. Neal's autobiography.
